Focal Design Features:
This heritage residence needed a statement kitchen to compliment the grand style and period features of the gorgeous property – nothing less than ornate and opulent would do. Dentil capping, and a combination of gluten and cotton reel pilasters create clever use of the unusually narrow space. The elegance and luxury of the kitchen is enhanced with the inclusion of a separate scullery.
Opulence and detail are incorporated wherever possible. The kitchen is built around a welcoming, statement island with a marble benchtop packed with functional storage. The island features large corbels and a gorgeous 80mm calacatta marble benchtop with under bench strip lighting. Quality timber framed construction is featured throughout, as well as exposed butt hinges on cabinet doors. Luxury is not just a facade in this grand kitchen. The internal cabinetry is just as impressive with beautifully hand crafted, solid timber dovetail drawers.
Overcoming Design Challenges:
The space was a true challenge to design. The room was very long and narrow, with four entry points and two large windows, with windowsills dropping below benchtop height. The combination left very limited space in which to create a beautiful and functional space fit for a luxury heritage home.
The inclusion of the large, functional statement island and open scullery makes smart use of the narrow, long space, and helps create a sense of light and scale, showcasing the two gorgeous windows. The scullery incorporates the same traditional style features, including impressive marble benchtops, an additional sink and microwave.
